Who is a mechatronics and what can they do?

A mechatronic is responsible for configuring, repairing, and ensuring the operational reliability of a company's production equipment, as well as maintaining them and diagnosing faults.

How can one become a mechatronic?

Prerequisite for starting: basic education, with a strong background in science subjects being advantageous.

Form of study: full-time (daytime) education.

Duration of study: 3 years.

Volume of company internship: 30 ECTS credits (approximately 780 astronomical hours).

Upon completion of the program, a level 4 mechatronic vocational examination is taken.

What is learned? During the mechatronic program, students acquire foundational knowledge in mechatronics, programming of electrical devices and robots, and the assembly, installation, and maintenance of various industrial equipment, along with business acumen. In addition to professional knowledge, general education subjects are also studied, and vocational secondary education is obtained upon graduation.

What comes next? Finding employment in the mechatronics field is relatively easy due to the high demand for such specialists. Mechatronic find jobs in the manufacturing industry, in companies specializing in mechatronics, automation, instrument manufacturing, or electronics. The rapidly developing field encourages further education—advanced level 5 studies in mechatronics are available at the Võrumaa Education and Technology Center, as well as applied higher education and bachelor’s programs at universities.
